Illustrations for the product
When you are trying to help users understand technical concepts, illustrations can support the explanatory text or replace empty spaces by adding "human touch". They allow us to create a relationship with our users by telling a meaningful story.
Empty screens
We have two kind of empty screens and illustrations :
-
Empty screens where the user can create elements (such as campaigns, user profiles, etc.).
We use this empty space opportunity to create illustrations that will help to explain users what they can create in the section. - Empty screens where the user can’t create elements (such as notifications, data reporting, etc.). Instead of displaying a white space where the notifications should be, we prefer to use this area to add some fun and colors in order to avoid frustration. This will also avoid answering questions such as “is this white space a bug or what?!”.
Explain and simplify the product
We also use illustrations to explain and onboard our users on complex or important parts of our product. Simplifying our interfaces allows us to delete details and schematize our speech.
Icons & text support
We also use small illustrations, icon illustrations on other part of the product:
- On a component we call “Big selection”, which allows users to choose between two or more types of choice. In this case, these icons have 2 purposes.
- To highlight an important information.
- To congratulate the user and give them feedback on an element they have created.
